Around the water
Pool decks poured around the shell, finished so wet feet keep their grip

Wet feet decide the finish
A pool deck is wet most of the day it gets used, and it sits in full sun the rest of the time. That makes the surface texture the first decision, ahead of color or pattern. Albert Cruz Jr finishes pool decks to be slip-resistant and safe to cross, then styles the look around the yard.
Concrete holds the afternoon heat, so the finish and the color of the slab matter underfoot as much as they do to the eye. Lighter, textured surfaces are a conversation Albert has with you on the property, standing on the ground where the deck will go.

Shell, coping and spa wall
The deck has to meet the pool the way the pool was built to be met. That means working to the coping edge, around the spa and up to any stacked-stone wall, with the slab pitched so water leaves the surface instead of sitting against the shell.
Shaun Fitch had new concrete poured around his pool area and wrote that he and his wife were extremely happy with the results. The crew forms the edges, sets the reinforcement and finishes each section by hand, so the lines around curves and corners come out clean.
Broom, stamped or colored, your call
Some owners want a plain broom finish. Others want a stamped pattern that reads as stone or brick, or a custom color with a contrasting border band like the ones on Albert’s driveways. Each of those is one solid surface, with no pieces to shift and no weeds working up between joints.
If the old deck is cracked or heaving, the same crew breaks it out and hauls it away for recycling before the new pour, so you deal with one contractor from demolition to the last pass of the trowel.
A C-8 licensed crew for the job
Albert has held his California C-8 concrete contractor license (CSLB #601184) since 1990, and the business is insured and bonded. From San Marcos to Encinitas and Oceanside, the next step is a call to (760) 716-4142, a look at the site, and a personalized quote.

The deck is part of the pool
The stone wall, the spa and the curve of the edge all set the lines the concrete has to follow. The same stamped patterns and colored borders used on stamped and decorative work can wrap a deck, and the patio beyond it is poured with the patios and hardscaping crew.
“Cruz and his team did a fantastic job pouring new concrete around my pool area. My wife and I are both extremely happy with the results and would highly recommend his company”
